HousingPulse helps you understand NYC property compliance data sourced from official city records. We use a private, automatically generated guest account so saved-building monitoring and push alerts remain reliable. No email, name, or password is required.

We do not sell personal information, use it for cross-app tracking, or build advertising profiles.

This policy explains what we collect, why, and what you can do about it.

01

Data We Collect

We collect and process only what is needed to provide, protect, and understand the app.

02

What We Do Not Do

03

Property Data Sources

All property information shown in HousingPulse — violations, complaints, permits, litigation, ownership, and financial records — comes from official NYC government open data portals:

This is public record data. We aggregate and present it — we did not create it and are not responsible for its accuracy. For official records, always verify directly with the relevant city agency.

04

AI-Powered Features

HousingPulse uses Google Gemini to generate the Building Brief, a plain-language summary of a property's city records. When you request a brief, the relevant public city records for that property are sent to Google's API to generate the analysis.

No personal information is included in these requests — only the public property data already sourced from NYC city records. Briefs are cached for 24 hours per property to minimise API calls.

Google's data handling is governed by their Privacy Policy.

06

Push Notifications

If you enable alerts, HousingPulse can send push notifications when new violations, complaints, or permit activity is filed against a saved property. We store an APNs device token under your guest account and send the alert payload to Apple for delivery. Notification permission is optional and can be revoked in iPhone Settings.

07

Retention and Account Deletion

Guest account records are retained while the account is active and as needed to provide saved-building monitoring, alerts, subscription access, security, and legal compliance. Public property records and shared building caches are not guest-account data.

You can delete your guest account in the app under Alerts > Saved Buildings > Account & Privacy > Delete Account & Data. Deletion removes the Firebase guest identity and associated HousingPulse watches, alerts, alert preferences, push token, trial state, entitlement mapping, and internal identifiers. Local account data, app preferences, recent searches, and caches are also cleared.

Provider systems and backups may require additional time to complete deletion under their retention processes. If Firebase is temporarily unavailable, HousingPulse keeps only the Firebase guest identifier and retry status until provider deletion completes. Deleting a HousingPulse account does not cancel an Apple subscription; billing must be managed separately through Apple's subscription settings.

HousingPulse may automatically purge a guest account after 365 days of inactivity when it has no saved buildings and no active subscription. Accounts with monitoring or active subscription access are excluded from this maintenance purge.

08

Children's Privacy

HousingPulse is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect any information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with information, contact us and we will delete it.

09

Your Rights

You may delete your guest account and associated data directly in the app. You may also contact us to ask about access, correction, or deletion. Because the account is anonymous, we may need the app's guest identifier to locate a record and may not be able to associate it with your real-world identity.

California residents: HousingPulse does not sell personal information and does not share it for cross-context behavioural advertising. No opt-out is required.

Changes to This Policy

If we make material changes to this policy, we'll update the date at the top of this page and, where appropriate, notify you through the app. Continued use of HousingPulse after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
