HousingPulse helps you understand NYC property compliance data sourced from official city records. We built this app to be data-minimal — we don't sell your information, we don't build advertising profiles, and the property data we show comes from public NYC Open Data sources, not from you.
This policy explains what we collect, why, and what you can do about it.
We collect only what's necessary to provide the app's features.
All property information shown in HousingPulse — violations, complaints, permits, litigation, ownership, and financial records — comes from official NYC government open data portals:
This is public record data. We aggregate and present it — we did not create it and are not responsible for its accuracy. For official records, always verify directly with the relevant city agency.
HousingPulse uses Google Gemini to generate the Intelligence Brief — a plain-language summary of a property's city records. When you request a brief, the relevant public city records for that property are sent to Google's API to generate the analysis.
No personal information is included in these requests — only the public property data already sourced from NYC city records. Briefs are cached for 24 hours per property to minimise API calls.
Google's data handling is governed by their Privacy Policy.
The app uses the following third-party services:
If you enable alerts, HousingPulse will send you push notifications when new violations, complaints, or permit activity is filed against a saved property. Notification permission is optional and can be revoked at any time in your iPhone Settings.
We use Apple Push Notification Service (APNs) to deliver notifications. No notification content is shared with third parties.
Property data is cached on our servers for up to 24 hours per property to improve performance. After that, the cache is cleared and re-fetched from city records on next request.
We do not retain search histories, user sessions, or device identifiers on our servers.
HousingPulse is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect any information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with information, contact us and we will delete it.
Because we don't collect personal information tied to your identity, there is no profile to access, correct, or delete. If you have concerns about any data we may hold, contact us and we'll respond within 30 days.
California residents: HousingPulse does not sell personal information and does not share it for cross-context behavioural advertising. No opt-out is required.
If we make material changes to this policy, we'll update the date at the top of this page and, where appropriate, notify you through the app. Continued use of HousingPulse after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
