NYC Intel App
Privacy Policy
Effective: May 22, 2026 · Developer: Dmytro Polokhalo
NYC Intel is a neighborhood intelligence app for New York City. We are committed to collecting only what is necessary to provide the service, and we do not sell your personal information to anyone.
Information We Collect
We collect the minimum data necessary to operate the app:
- Location data — Used in-app to look up parking rules, 311 complaints, safety data, and neighborhood signals near you. Location is processed on your device and is never stored on our servers.
- Address searches — Addresses you look up are sent to NYC Open Data APIs to retrieve publicly available city records. We do not log or retain your search history.
- Push notification token — If you enable alerts, your device push token is stored securely to deliver local notifications. You can disable notifications at any time in iOS Settings.
- Subscription status — Managed entirely by Apple via StoreKit 2. We receive only a confirmation of your subscription tier — no payment details are ever shared with us.
Data Sources
All neighborhood data displayed in NYC Intel is sourced from NYC Open Data, a publicly available platform operated by the City of New York. This includes 311 complaints, NYPD crime data, DOB violations, HPD violations, restaurant inspections, rodent inspections, and parking sign records.
NYC Intel is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or operated by the City of New York or any New York City agency.
Third-Party Services
NYC Intel uses the following third-party services, each operating under their own privacy policies:
- Apple StoreKit 2 — In-app subscription and purchase management. Apple handles all payment processing.
- Firebase Cloud Messaging (Google) — Used to deliver push notifications to your device. Only your device token is shared, not personal data.
- Mapbox — Powers the premium map view. Mapbox may collect anonymized usage data per their privacy policy.
- NYC Open Data (Socrata) — All data queries are made directly to the City of New York's public API endpoints.

Children's Privacy
NYC Intel is not directed to children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will promptly delete it.
Data Retention
Push notification tokens are retained only while you have an active subscription and notification permissions enabled. Removing the app or revoking notification permissions removes your token from our system. We do not retain any other personal data.
